Connect to official airport Wi-Fi and open the exact instructions for the plan you purchased. Check the installed profile, turn the travel line on, select it for mobile data, apply the plan's roaming setting, test without Wi-Fi, refresh the radio, then verify the named network and APN. Contact official support before deleting the profile or buying a replacement.

Before you decide
- Open the exact package instructions over airport Wi-Fi
- Confirm the installed profile without exposing its QR code or ICCID
- Turn the travel line on and select it for mobile data
- Apply roaming only to the travel line as instructed
- Test a new webpage with Wi-Fi off
- Use Airplane Mode for at least 15 seconds
- Check only the provider-specified network and APN
- Restart, then contact official support before any reset or deletion
Start with the symptom you can see
| Symptom | Check first | Do not do first |
|---|---|---|
| eSIM missing from settings | Installation record and profile identity | Delete unknown profiles |
| No Service, SOS, or Searching | Line status, activation, network, coverage | Guess a Korean carrier |
| Bars but no internet | Data line, roaming, APN, remaining data | Buy a replacement immediately |
| Data works but calls or SMS do not | Plan Type and number features | Treat it as a data outage |
| Stuck on Activating | Coverage, activation policy, Wi-Fi, provisioning | Repeatedly rescan the QR code |
| Only one app fails | App, VPN, DNS, or permissions | Reset the whole mobile network |
First, identify the symptom
An eSIM missing from settings points to installation or profile identification. No Service, SOS, or Searching points to line status, activation, network, or coverage. Signal bars with no internet point first to the selected data line, roaming, APN, plan status, or remaining data. Data that works while calls and SMS fail may simply be a data-only product.
There is no universal Korea setting for every travel eSIM. Packages can use different partner networks, APNs, activation rules, and roaming instructions. The details attached to the exact package you purchased are the source of truth.
Minute 0-1: get the instructions and identify the profile
Connect to Incheon Airport's official free Wi-Fi, then open the order email or provider app. In Airalo, select the exact eSIM and open its instructions or access-data section. Record the eSIM label, activation policy, supported network, APN if specified, roaming instruction, plan status, and remaining data.
Open cellular or SIM settings and find the travel profile. It may be labeled Secondary, Travel, Business, or a name chosen during setup. If the provider says it is installed but you cannot identify it, compare the ICCID privately with the order. Never post the QR code, activation code, ICCID, or full account details publicly, and do not delete profiles by guesswork.
Minute 2-4: turn on the correct line, data, and roaming
On iPhone, select the eSIM under Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data and enable Turn On This Line. On Samsung Galaxy, use Settings > Connections > SIM manager. On Google Pixel, use Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. Menu labels vary by model and software version.
An active eSIM may still not be the phone's data line. Select it as the mobile-data SIM. During troubleshooting, disable automatic cellular-data switching if that could move data back to the home line. Keep data roaming disabled on the home SIM unless you intentionally accept your carrier's charges.
Many travel eSIMs require Data Roaming on for the travel line, but another package may specify something different. Apply the setting to the travel profile only and follow the exact plan instructions rather than a generic Korea tutorial.
Minute 5-7: test, refresh, and check network selection
Turn Wi-Fi off briefly and load a new lightweight webpage in a private browser tab. A messaging app can display cached content and is not a reliable data test. If the new page loads, mobile data works and the remaining problem may be limited to one app, calls, SMS, or another product feature.
If it does not load, turn Airplane Mode on for at least 15 seconds and then off. Apple recommends this reconnection step for No Service or Searching. Wait for network registration rather than toggling repeatedly.
Start network selection on Automatic. If the exact package instructions name a Korean partner and automatic selection fails, select only that named network. Do not guess between Korean carriers from an unrelated article. If the listed network does not appear, capture the settings for private support and return to Automatic.
Minute 8-9: check APN only when instructed, then restart
Many eSIMs configure the APN automatically; some require a manual value. Copy it exactly from the purchased plan, including punctuation and capitalization. Leave username and password blank unless the provider supplies them. Do not copy a generic Korea APN from a forum or reset every APN as an early step.
Restart the phone normally. Confirm again that the travel profile is on, selected for data, and using the required roaming setting. Turn Wi-Fi off and test a fresh webpage.
Minute 10: contact official support
If the connection still fails, stop changing settings and contact the provider through its official app or help center while airport Wi-Fi is available. Keep the profile installed.
Prepare the order number, package name, phone model, operating-system version, current airport terminal, ICCID for private support, screenshots of SIM, network, and APN settings, the exact error, and the steps already attempted. Ask support to confirm activation, remaining data, the correct partner network, APN, and roaming instruction.
iPhone checks
For SOS, No Service, or Searching, Apple recommends Airplane Mode for at least 15 seconds and a restart. Confirm the travel line is enabled and selected for Cellular Data. In Settings > General > About, Carrier Lock should show No SIM Restrictions for an unlocked phone.
While on Wi-Fi, check whether a carrier-settings or iOS update is offered. Do not begin a major update when you urgently need the device unless you have sufficient time, power, and a reliable connection. If the home line stays active for calls or verification texts, keep mobile data assigned to the travel eSIM.
Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel checks
On Samsung, use SIM manager to confirm the eSIM is active and selected for Mobile Data. If Data Roaming is unavailable, Samsung notes that Mobile Data may need to be enabled first. Add or edit an APN only when the provider supplies the exact value.
On Pixel, start at Settings > Network & internet > SIMs and confirm the eSIM, Mobile Data, and selected data line. Google provides a mobile-network reset, but treat that as a later support-guided step because it removes network configuration and is unnecessary for common data-line mistakes.
Airalo-specific checks in Korea
Open My eSIMs, choose the exact Korea, regional, or global package, and read its installation and access-data instructions. Confirm that the installed profile matches the order, the line is on and selected for data, roaming follows the package instruction, the APN matches when required, network selection uses Automatic or the named partner, and the plan has not expired or run out of data.
Activation can differ by package. Some plans begin when they first connect to a supported network. Do not delete the profile as a shortcut; Airalo states that eSIMs typically cannot be reinstalled.
Check whether the missing feature is part of the plan
A working data-only eSIM may not place ordinary carrier calls, receive Korean SMS, or provide a Korean number. That is a product limitation rather than a mobile-data failure. Test a webpage first, then read the Plan Type for voice, SMS, and number features.
Internet calling and messaging apps can work over data, but a Korean service that requires a local mobile number may reject a data-only line. Do not buy another product until you know whether data has failed or the desired feature was never included.
Help at Incheon Airport
Remain on airport Wi-Fi while contacting the provider. Incheon Airport lists Korean carrier roaming counters in both terminals, including some 24-hour facilities. Those counters support their own products; they are not Airalo support and may not repair a third-party profile.
A local SIM or eSIM is a backup only after official support confirms the original cannot be restored in time. Before buying, confirm carrier lock, device compatibility, duration, data, voice and SMS, activation, refund terms, and reissue policy. Replacement belongs at the end of the process.
Need a replacement only after support checks the original?
Keep the installed profile until official support confirms it cannot be restored in time. If you still need a backup, compare compatibility, activation policy, data allowance, and support before buying another plan.

Do not delete an eSIM you still need, repeatedly rescan its QR code, publicly share activation details, enable roaming on the home SIM without understanding charges, guess a network or APN, start with a full reset, or buy another plan before checking status and support.
Do not assume missing calls or SMS means mobile data is broken. Restore or verify the service already purchased before comparing a replacement.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my Korea eSIM show No Service after landing?
The line may be off, assigned incorrectly, waiting for activation, searching for the wrong network, or missing a package-specific setting. Follow the purchased plan's official instructions.
Should I delete and reinstall my Airalo eSIM?
No, not as a routine fix. Airalo says eSIMs typically cannot be reinstalled. Keep the profile and contact official support first.
Should Data Roaming be on in Korea?
Many travel eSIMs require it, but apply it only to the travel line and only as the exact provider instructions state.
Why are there signal bars but no internet?
Check the selected data SIM, roaming, APN, remaining data, and plan status, then test a new webpage with Wi-Fi off.
Can an Incheon Airport telecom counter fix Airalo?
The counters support local carrier products and are not Airalo's official support team. Contact Airalo over airport Wi-Fi first.
